Consultation – During your consultation, we will begin by discussing your dental goals and any concerns you might have about your smile.

We will then take initial records, which may include digital scans and photographs of your teeth. These records help us to assess your current dental condition and determine if fixed braces are a suitable treatment for you.

• Treatment plan appointment: At this visit, we carry out a comprehensive exam of your teeth, gums, and overall oral health. Once the exam is complete, we will discuss your treatment plan, which is tailored specifically to you. We’ll walk you through the step-by-step process of your treatment, discussing treatment length and everything that is involved. This appointment is an opportunity for you to ask any questions and address any concerns before beginning your treatment.
• Braces application: During this appointment, we will attach the brackets to your teeth and place the metal wire. You’ll receive instructions on how to care for your braces, including how to brush and floss with them, and what foods to avoid. We will also schedule your follow-up appointments for adjustments. The entire appointment typically lasts around 1 to 2 hours, depending on the complexity. Some discomfort might follow as your teeth start adjusting to the braces, but this is usually temporary.
• Ongoing adjustments: During your treatment, we’ll make periodic adjustments to the braces to keep the pressure on your teeth and ensure the best results. These visits are typically scheduled every 4-6 weeks.
• Treatment completion: Once your teeth are aligned, the brackets and wire will be removed. We will discuss the next steps of your treatment, which usually involve wearing a retainer to maintain your new smile. Dental whitening is included for adults at the end of your treatment – this is a safe and effective way to achieve a brighter, radiant smile and adds the finishing touch to your smile makeover. We will demonstrate how to use the dental whitening gel to ensure the best results.

Caring for your braces

While wearing fixed braces, it’s important to follow a few simple guidelines to ensure your treatment progresses smoothly and your oral health remains optimal:

• Maintain excellent oral hygiene: Brushing and flossing can be a bit more challenging with braces, but it’s essential to keep your teeth clean. Our team will provide you with helpful tips on brushing around brackets and wires.
• Avoid certain foods: Sticky, hard, or crunchy foods (such as caramel, popcorn, and nuts) can damage your braces. You’ll need to avoid these to prevent any delays in treatment.
• Regular visits: Keep your follow-up appointments to ensure that your braces are adjusted properly and your treatment is progressing as planned.
• Wear elastics (if necessary): If your treatment includes elastics to correct bite issues, make sure to wear them as directed for the best results.
